Route Take the north road out of Famagusta which is signposted for Salamis and the Karpas, and which by-passes the Old City. Fork left after 11 mile for Trikomo (13 mile) and Kantara Castle (25 mile).
One way to return to Famagusta is by following the Forest Road westwards as far as Mersiniki Pass, passing Mt Olympus (2.427 ft) on the way. Turn left here for Lefkoniko, joining the main Nicosia-Famagusta road north of Prastio.
For Nicosia turn right in Lefkoniko (25 mile plus).
Alternatively, an overnight stay can be made at Dhavlos (5 mile plus) near Phlamoudhi on the north coast, or Boghaz, via Trikomo. and the excursion continued eastwards for Kanakaria Church and Apostolos Andreas Monastery (52 mile plus). Ancient Monument Kantara Castle Custodian in attendance.
