There are five leading worldwide banks and many local banks in North Cyprus: the HSBC Bank (with branches in main towns), the Popular worldwide Bank of North Cyprus and the Turkey Is Bank of Turkey which is the biggest bank of Turkey and also Garanti Bank from Turkey is one of the biggest bank in Northern Cyprus. More than five overseas banks have branches in South Cyprus: Barclays Bank D.C.O., the National and Grindlay's Bank, the Chartered Bank, the National Bank of Greece and HSBC. Banking hours are from 9 a.m. to 12 noon in summer time, rom 9 a.m. to 16:00 in winter time from Monday to Friday.

Some hotels, large shops and garages will also usually accept travellers' cheques in North Cyprus, but before to shopping please ask them if they can accept it or not.Visitors may bring in an unlimited amount of sterling, provided that it is in the form of travellers' cheques, letters of credit, etc. If you have bank account in HSBC and want to take big amount money sterling notes that, brought in should not exceed 7500 GBP in one day time if you want to take it from bank, next day you can get maximum same limit aswell.
