4 years ago shopping in North Cyprus was on a very small scale, the recent property boom has changed all that, everything that is available in the U.K. is now being sold here in North Cyprus. Supermarkets are getting bigger and are carrying a wider selection of goods; the sale of electrical goods is getting more competitive with new outlets opening on a regular basis, clothing shops offer all the latest fashions and trends that are available in mainland Europe.
More traditional Turkish Cypriot shops can be found in Nicosia, Guzelyurt Gasimagusa and Kyrenia, where jewelry is very popular and competitively priced. Open markets are being hold once a week in Kyrenia (Wednesday), Guzelyurt (Saturday) and in Famagusta (Friday). Also there are old Bazaar halls in city center of Nicosia and Guzelyurt. Tax free shopping is available now in North Cyprus. You can ask tax refund to be delivered in to a card account or receive at border gates.
